In January, I went down from 4 days a week at the Whisky Club to one day. That left me free to freelance elsewhere, write and produce my podcast, begin work on a novel and work a lot more for myself.

The Whisky Club: The Moment

Finally, we shot an ad for the Club that didn't involve existing footage. We drove out to Edgar Dam in Tasmania's remote Southwest Wilderness and it was the most fun I've ever had on a shoot. We made a 60, a 30 and a 15 second spot. Directed by Matt Scott.

Tasmania Occupational Therapy South: Logo

This is  Mrs Bayfield's business which she set up in February 2023. I came up with the name - she works exclusively with children. Design by Tania Lubbett.

UBC: Flyer

This was for a friend who runs a construction business here in Tasmania. It's not the most creative work but this is the part of my website where I put pretty much everything. In fact the only work that isn't here is work which the client rewrote themselves (some of tthe Roadside Media ads) and work which I just can't find.

Salt Sellers: Little Egg

Our second ad for this Christian broadcast collective. This time I wrote the script myself.

The Whisky Club: 3 Things

Using found footage, I made a Facebook ad to educate people about whisky.

Self promotion: Flyer

I created a flyer and maildropped pretty much every business premises in Kingston Tas and a few in Hobart. Sowing a seed. I also messaged people who advertised in the local paper and showed them what their ads might look like with an added creative idea. The same with advertisers on Hobart's buses. Most bigger clients were tied into agencies but this was a useful icebreaker.

Fostering Hope: Everything Changes

I wrote the script for this online ad that encourages people to be the one permanent fixture in a foster child's life. Animated by Tom Smith.

Children's Cancer Charity: Donate your age

I worked on this last year with my mate Fish from Watford College who lives in Melbourne. It finally appeared in 2023. Fish and I threw in the "donate your age" idea while the agency produced the rest of the campaign. Created with Andrew Fisher, Ant Hatton and Hans Christian Berents at Orphan.

Tourism Tasmania: Unordinary Stories

This was pure copywriting. Tourism Tasmania wanted to showcase some of the most idiosyncratic places to visit and stay during the off season. My first experience of writing listicles.

Wholly Buyable: Snakes and Angels

Having written Wholly Buyable as a book before it was a podcast, it felt appropriate to release it as a book. Snakes and Angels is billed as a secular walk through the first five books of the Bible and is available to download on Amazon. Cover design by Lisa Goff.

Hobart Writers' Club

There aren't many writers down on this last stop before the pole but we regularly pull up a stool in a pub down by the harbour, share some writing that we love and discuss all things literary. Join us on Facebook here.

Suzuki Marine: Summer Steal

TRP in Melbourne have Samsonite, Miele and Maclaren as clients, as well as the less glamorous bits of Suzuki and Honda. I spent three weeks working remotely for them and this line for Suzuki Marine is mine. Created with Tom Marcovich.

Saltsellers: Car Chase

Without any production budget, we couldn't produce a bespoke ad for this Christmas. However, we revamped one from 2010 and added a new sign off.
